Time is a precious and irreversible resource. Take a moment to think: does your schedule really reflect your priorities? Find out how to rebalance your life for greater fulfilment.
Key facts:
Have you ever wondered whether your schedule really reflects your life aspirations?
It’s true that most of us spend a lot of that time at work… but what do you do the rest of the time?
Are you aware of the time you spend on other activities? Does it fit in with your life priorities? Do you allow yourself enough time to recharge your batteries and look after yourself?
Time is one of the elements in our lives that we cannot reset. It’s a precious resource that we can’t get back.
This time passes, moves forward and we can’t go backwards (even if sometimes, in real life, I’ve caught myself looking for the “SUPPR” key on the keyboard to go backwards 😁 ). That’s why it’s essential to think about how we use it.
Think about how you use your time. Take the time to ask yourself: What could you do today to rebalance this time that’s running out and use it to recharge your batteries, to focus on your life priorities, to live and enjoy every moment of your life?
Time never passes, so you have to live in time
– Mazouz Hacène
I did this exercise myself a few weeks ago, because I realised that I was spending far too much time on the Business side of my life to the detriment of the Leisure side.
Just one example.
I love reading and I love learning.
Except that for several months now my reading has been (too) concentrated on books on personal development, coaching, business… which have given me lots of ideas for my business activity (it’s great for me!) but this has required me to do research, to learn, to train… to the detriment of the other aspects of my life (well, there are only 24 hours in a day…).
In short, I realised that I was no longer reading books that I used to love to read: thrillers and crime novels!
I realised that I was going out less – this was partly due to the health situation – but I was practically on my laptop 24 hours a day.
And so I decided (reluctantly at first, I must say) to reallocate some time to reading fiction… and… my brain thanks me!
I just love it!
I had to devour 3 books in 2 weeks, which hasn’t happened to me in ages!
I’m rediscovering the pleasure of reading a book of fiction and trying to understand, to find the murderer before the last page of the book 😊.
I’m rediscovering the pleasure of being turned upside down by a story, of dreaming, of imagining, of letting my mind wander with these riddles to solve.
I’m rediscovering the pleasure of discussing the books I’ve read with my friends and family and stopping boring them with my business 😁
And, strangely enough, it allows me to be much more focused and efficient in my professional activity.
A better work-life balance brings many benefits.
Firstly, it significantly reduces stress and prevents burnout, thereby improving mental and physical health. This harmony promotes greater productivity at work, because a rested mind is more creative and efficient.
On a personal level, it helps to strengthen family and friendships, which are often neglected in times of imbalance.
What’s more, devoting time to your passions and hobbies stimulates personal fulfilment, nurturing self-esteem and a sense of achievement.
Finally, this balance offers a broader perspective on life, leading to better decisions, both professional and personal.
In fact, a good balance not only translates into a better quality of life, but also into more lasting success in all aspects of our lives.
To help you make this assessment, I recommend that you listen to episode 63 of the Inspir’Action Quarterly podcast – Taking stock of your life by analysing your time. In it, I suggest a method for analysing your use of time and taking stock of your life.
And you, what activity have you put on hold that you’d like to resume?
Think about it and take action today to rebalance your time. Remember, as time passes, it never passes again. Live each moment to the full.
